ISO 7637
ISO 7637-2 specifies bench tests to assess the immunity of vehicles equipped with a 12 V electrical system for passenger and light commercial vehicles or a 24 V electrical system for commercial vehicles to electrical disturbances transmitted via electrical connections. It covers transient characteristics. It also provides for the indication of error mode illuminations for relations to transient events. The drive system (associated with spark-ignition or diesel engine or electric motor) is applicable independently for such road vehicles.
Methods for transient emission in the power supply and test methods for immunity of devices against such environmental conditions are provided. These are tested as bench tests and conducted in laboratory environments. Some artificial network regulation modules yield test methods that result in comparable results among laboratories.
A bench test method may be conducted with a test pulse generator placed in the power supply line to assess immunity to transient currents in a device. This can encompass all types of transients that may occur in a vehicle.
