CISPR 12 Type Approval
Vehicles, boats, and internal combustion engines, their radio interference characteristics, limits, and measurement test methods are aimed at protecting off-board receivers. The limits in this International standard are designed to provide protection for broadcast receivers in the frequency range of 30 MHz to 1000 MHz when used in residential environments.
This standard encompasses limits and test methods for both wideband and narrowband emissions. It does not apply to aircraft, railway, tramway, and trolleybus systems, or to incomplete vehicles. Measurement of electromagnetic disturbances while the vehicle is connected to the main power supply for vehicle charging is not within the scope of this standard. Users are directed to appropriate IEC and CISPR standards that define measurement techniques and limits for this condition.
